Bicycle Fatalities in Arkansas
The deadly crash on SH 365 highlights the vulnerability of cyclists when traveling along state highways, particularly during nighttime hours. With limited lighting and high-speed vehicle traffic, bicyclists face significant risks when forced to share lanes without designated bike paths or protective infrastructure.
Arkansas has seen a troubling number of cyclist fatalities in recent years, particularly on rural or semi-rural highways where shoulders are narrow and visibility is limited. Even when conditions are clear and roads are dry—as in this case—drivers may not expect or see a bicycle rider until it is too late.
For families who lose a loved one in a bicycle crash, the impact is devastating. Beyond the emotional toll, they often face unexpected financial burdens from medical bills, funeral expenses, and the sudden loss of companionship and support. Ensuring access to official reports and resources is a vital step toward navigating the aftermath.
