Oakland, CA (September 11, 2025) – A high-speed incident involving a Tesla Model 3 led to a four-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning on southbound 3rd St, leaving one person injured and several vehicles damaged, according to the California Highway Patrol – Alameda County.
Witnesses reported that a dark gray or black Tesla was weaving dangerously through traffic around 6:11 a.m. before triggering a chain-reaction crash near the 3rd St corridor in West Oakland. The impact involved at least four vehicles, and emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Paramedics assessed the occupants of all vehicles and confirmed that one person was experiencing chest pain following the crash. That individual was treated at the scene for what CHP categorized as minor injuries under incident code 1181. It is not yet clear if they were transported for further medical evaluation.
The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene, and investigators are evaluating whether reckless driving or excessive speed were the primary causes of the incident. Southbound lanes near 3rd St experienced delays as responders worked to clear the scene and document vehicle positions.
The CHP has not announced any arrests or citations, though charges may be considered pending the outcome of the investigation. No other injuries were immediately reported.
We extend our wishes for a full recovery to the individual injured in this collision.
