Oakland, CA (September 14, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision on the I-880 Freeway in Oakland left at least one person injured Friday afternoon. The crash occurred around 1:02 p.m. near the 98th Avenue exit, prompting an emergency response from the California Highway Patrol and paramedics.
Emergency responders provided on-site care before transporting the injured person to a local hospital for further treatment. The condition of the patient has not been disclosed, and no additional injuries were immediately reported.
According to CHP, a blue Toyota sedan and a white SUV were involved in the crash. Both vehicles were recovered from the scene, but the cause of the incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed, distraction, or traffic conditions contributed to the collision.
Traffic along I-880 Southbound experienced delays as officials worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident. The freeway has since been reopened to regular flow, though the investigation remains ongoing.
