Oakland, CA (September 14, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision on the I-880 Freeway in Oakland left at least one person injured Friday afternoon. The crash occurred around 1:02 p.m. near the 98th Avenue exit, prompting an emergency response from the California Highway Patrol and paramedics.
Emergency responders provided on-site care before transporting the injured person to a local hospital for further treatment. The condition of the patient has not been disclosed, and no additional injuries were immediately reported.
According to CHP, a blue Toyota sedan and a white SUV were involved in the crash. Both vehicles were recovered from the scene, but the cause of the incident remains under investigation. Traffic along I-880 Southbound experienced delays as officials worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident. The freeway has since been reopened to regular flow, though the investigation remains ongoing.
