Odessa, TX (January 17, 2026) – A tragic collision in Ector County claimed the life of a 52-year-old Odessa woman and left another person injured. The deadly crash occurred around 7:30 PM on January 15 at the intersection of SE Loop 338 and Southfork Ave.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2005 Toyota Corolla was heading eastbound on SE Loop 338 and had slowed to make a turn onto Southfork Ave when it was rear-ended by a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, which was also traveling east in the same lane. Investigators noted that the Corolla did not have functioning rear lights at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Corolla, identified as Yaiset Almeida Ceregido, 52, of Odessa, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Silverado, Daniel Granado, 21, also of Odessa, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He, too, was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assess injuries and secure the crash site. The impact of the collision left the roadway partially blocked as officials began a detailed investigation, which remains ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Yaiset Almeida Ceregido during this incredibly difficult time. We also wish a full recovery to the injured driver.
