Omaha, NE (April 24, 2025) – Omaha police and emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday that left seven individuals injured, including five children. The accident occurred at the intersection of 60th St and Pratt St, drawing a significant emergency response due to the number of people involved.
Authorities stated that the crash happened when a northbound Dodge Journey attempted to make a left turn but failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The vehicle collided with a southbound Chevy Trailblazer. As a result of the impact, the Journey rolled onto its side, and the Trailblazer was pushed into a nearby retaining wall.
Emergency responders, including Omaha Fire Department personnel and paramedics, worked quickly to assist the injured. The driver of the Dodge Journey and five child passengers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer was also hospitalized. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed, though all individuals were reportedly alive at the time of transport.
The scene was closed off temporarily while officials cleared debris and conducted an initial investigation into the cause of the crash. Omaha police continue to investigate whether speed, distraction, or other factors may have contributed.
We extend our well wishes for a full recovery to all those injured in this serious accident.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Nebraska
The recent crash at 60th and Pratt St serves as a troubling example of how quickly everyday driving decisions can lead to dangerous outcomes—especially when children are involved. Intersections remain one of the most common locations for vehicle accidents in Nebraska, often due to misjudged turns, failure to yield, or distracted driving.
In this case, the Dodge Journey’s failure to yield during a left turn highlights a common hazard. According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, left-turn accidents represent a significant percentage of intersection-related crashes statewide. When visibility is compromised or drivers rush to beat traffic, the risk of a serious collision escalates.
Incidents involving children are particularly alarming, not only due to their vulnerability to injury but also because these situations often involve school pickups, family travel, or after-school activities—times when multiple children may be present in a vehicle. Safety restraints, seating positions, and the structural integrity of a vehicle all play critical roles in determining injury severity.
The aftermath of such crashes often requires more than just medical attention. Families may face emotional trauma, financial strain, and prolonged recovery. Understanding legal rights and access to resources can help affected families move forward with the support they need.
When children are hurt in a crash, the urgency for answers and accountability increases. If your loved ones have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, it’s important to seek help from trusted sources who understand your local area.
