Orange County, FL (September 14, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash in Orange County on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 436 and Lake Pleasant Road.
According to FHP, a Ford Maverick pickup truck was traveling west on SR-436, preparing to turn left at the intersection of Lake Pleasant Road. At the same time, a Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle was heading east on SR-436 in the inside lane.
As the pickup truck attempted to make a U-turn, it crossed into the path of the motorcycle, causing a collision. The front of the motorcycle struck the back of the Ford, throwing both the motorcyclist and his passenger from the bike.
The 25-year-old motorcyclist from Columbia, South Carolina, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Apopka, was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after being transported.
The driver of the Ford Maverick, a 60-year-old woman from Apopka, and her 18-year-old passenger were uninjured and remained at the scene.
Motorcycle Accidents in Florida
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, though initial reports suggest that the driver of the pickup truck may not have seen the motorcycle when attempting the U-turn. The collision serves as a reminder of the dangers of making U-turns at busy intersections, where vehicles may not always be aware of approaching traffic.
Motorcyclists and their passengers face greater risks in collisions due to the lack of protective barriers. Local authorities continue to emphasize the importance of caution, especially at intersections, where multiple vehicles may be maneuvering in close proximity.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died, and we extend our condolences during this difficult time.
