Orange, TX – Multi-Vehicle Crash With Injuries on Hwy 87 & FM 105

May 13, 2025

Orange, TX (May 13, 2025) – First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in a high-speed crash that followed a police chase Monday evening. The crash, which occurred at the intersection of South Hwy 87 and FM 105 in Orange, left multiple people injured and one man in critical condition.

According to Orange police, the incident began when 19-year-old Gavin Manasco, driving a Ford F100 truck, was involved in a collision on Hwy 62. Manasco fled the scene immediately after the initial crash. Around 5:45 p.m., a Pinehurst officer spotted the truck near Strickland Dr and Martin Luther King Dr and attempted a traffic stop, but Manasco fled once again.

As he sped south on Strickland Dr, Manasco struck another vehicle near The Home Depot before continuing his attempt to evade police. The pursuit ended violently when the truck collided with three more vehicles at the intersection of Hwy 87 and FM 105. The impact caused the truck to leave the roadway and flip several times.

Manasco sustained critical injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital. Two other individuals from the final crash were also taken to the same hospital with incapacitating injuries. Authorities from multiple agencies—including Bridge City Police, Texas Highway Patrol, and Orange Fire Department—provided assistance at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by both the Orange and Pinehurst Police Departments.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this serious incident.

Pursuit-Related Collisions in Texas

Police chases can quickly escalate into dangerous situations with far-reaching consequences for both suspects and innocent bystanders. In cases like this one in Orange, high-speed attempts to evade law enforcement often result in multi-vehicle collisions, critical injuries, and significant property damage.

Texas has experienced numerous incidents involving suspects fleeing traffic stops. Data from the Texas Department of Public Safety shows that while pursuits are initiated to prevent further danger, they often introduce substantial risk when drivers refuse to comply with police orders.

Crashes involving pursuits usually involve higher speeds and erratic maneuvers, which reduce the time other motorists have to react. Victims of such accidents may be left with long-term physical and emotional challenges, in addition to complex legal and insurance matters.

Following such an incident, it is vital for injured individuals and their families to seek prompt medical care, document all injuries, and explore avenues for support during recovery. Agencies typically conduct internal reviews to determine if pursuit protocols were followed and whether preventive measures can be implemented.
