Intersection Crashes in Southeastern Minnesota
Crashes at intersections like Hwy 63 and 18th Ave NW in Oronoco Township are not uncommon, especially in areas with frequent highway crossing points. Intersections where state highways intersect with township roads often experience visibility issues and judgment errors due to varying travel speeds and limited traffic controls.
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, non-life-threatening injuries are the most frequently reported outcomes in rural intersection crashes, but even these incidents can lead to long-term recovery challenges, financial stress, and insurance disputes for those involved.
Proper signaling, yielding, and situational awareness are essential to reducing the risk of such collisions. Residents traveling along Hwy 63 are encouraged to approach intersections cautiously and stay alert to crossing traffic, especially during daylight hours when traffic volume increases.
