Osage County, MO (August 12, 2025) – A 56-year-old Vienna woman suffered serious injuries on Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle collision on US-63 near Quaker Windows in Osage County. The crash happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. when a northbound 2019 Kenworth began to slow for traffic. A second northbound vehicle, a 2014 Kenworth T3, swerved to avoid hitting the slowing truck. At that moment, a southbound 2019 Kia Sportage collided with the right front of the second Kenworth, pushing the Kia into the rear of the first truck.
The driver of the Kia was transported by Maries County EMS to Phelps Hospital with serious injuries. Both Kenworth drivers, a 35-year-old from Sweet Springs and a 27-year-old from Camdenton, were uninjured. The Kia and the 2014 Kenworth sustained total damage and were towed from the scene, while the 2019 Kenworth had minor damage and was driven away.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we hope for her full and swift recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Missouri
Crashes involving more than two vehicles often occur in situations where traffic slows unexpectedly, and drivers have little time or space to react. Monday’s crash on US-63 illustrates how a chain of events can unfold in seconds, resulting in multiple impacts and severe injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that evasive action by one vehicle led to a secondary collision, which then caused an additional impact.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation data, multi-vehicle crashes are more likely to occur on high-speed highways and rural expressways when driver visibility is limited or reaction times are short. These crashes can cause extensive vehicle damage and significantly increase the risk of injury. Maintaining safe following distances, anticipating traffic changes, and staying alert to brake lights ahead are key prevention strategies.
Local Accident Reports urges drivers to exercise caution when approaching slowing or stopped traffic, particularly on high-speed roadways. If you or someone you love has been injured in a multi-vehicle crash, resources are available to help with medical care and financial recovery.
