He chose to focus exclusively on personal injury law because of his commitment to helping people who have been injured through no fault of their own. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law Houston in 1996 and is admitted to practice in Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
