Palm Coast, FL (August 8, 2025) – A fatal pedestrian collision early Friday morning on Interstate 95 in Flagler County claimed the life of a 20-year-old man from New York City. The crash occurred near mile marker 289 in the northbound lanes, just outside Palm Coast, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers responded to the scene shortly after 3:00 a.m. and found that the man had been struck by two SUVs—a Nissan Rogue and a Ford Edge—after stepping into the roadway from the outside shoulder. The drivers, one from Virginia and the other from Pennsylvania, were unable to avoid the collision. Both remained at the scene and were uninjured.
Authorities stated that the pedestrian was standing on the shoulder moments before entering the active travel lane, for reasons that remain unknown. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The crash caused significant delays for early morning commuters as northbound lanes were partially closed for several hours during the investigation. By approximately 9:00 a.m., all lanes had been reopened.
