Parlier, CA (February 11, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and two pickup trucks on Monday afternoon outside of Parlier, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 2:30 PM PST at the intersection of Adams and Academy Avenues. CHP reports that a GMC pickup traveling westbound and a Chevrolet pickup pulling a trailer traveling eastbound were both stopped at the four-way stop sign at the intersection. As both vehicles proceeded through the intersection, a semi-truck traveling southbound on Academy Avenue ran the stop sign, crashing into both pickup trucks.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. Two individuals were transported to the hospital with moderate to minor injuries. Their current conditions have not been disclosed, and their identities have not been released.
Authorities temporarily closed the number two lane of southbound Academy Avenue just south of Adams Avenue to facilitate the towing of the semi-truck and the cleanup of the crash site. The lane is expected to remain closed until approximately 6:00 PM.
CHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including why the semi-truck failed to stop at the intersection. No additional details have been provided at this time. Our thoughts are with those injured in this incident, and we wish them a swift and full recovery.
Truck Accidents in California
Truck accidents, like the recent collision at Adams and Academy Avenues near Parlier, often result in significant damage and injuries due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. When large trucks, such as tractor-trailers, fail to adhere to traffic regulations—like running stop signs—the consequences for other motorists can be severe.
Common causes of truck accidents include driver fatigue, distracted driving, mechanical failures, and failure to follow traffic signals or signs. In this case, the semi-truck running a stop sign led to a multi-vehicle collision, highlighting the dangers of such negligent behavior. Intersections are particularly hazardous when large vehicles are involved, as their size can cause more extensive damage and a higher likelihood of injuries.
Victims of truck accidents often suffer from a wide range of injuries, from minor cuts and bruises to more serious conditions like fractures, spinal injuries, and head trauma. Immediate medical attention is crucial, as some injuries may not be apparent immediately following the accident. Additionally, truck accidents often lead to emotional distress and financial burdens due to medical bills, vehicle repairs, and lost income.
Truck accident cases can be complex due to the involvement of commercial insurance policies, trucking company liability, and federal regulations governing the trucking industry. Victims may need legal assistance to navigate these complexities, ensure proper investigation, and secure fair compensation for their injuries and damages.
