Pasco County, FL (May 28, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash in Pasco County claimed the life of a 37-year-old Lithia man on Wednesday morning. The collision occurred just after 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Bellamy Brothers Boulevard and Bayhead Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP investigators reported that the man was traveling north on Bellamy Brothers Blvd, riding a Honda motorcycle. As he attempted to make a left turn onto Bayhead Rd, he lost control of his bike and was ejected from the vehicle. The rider then slid into the southbound lanes, directly into the path of a Hyundai SUV.
The SUV, operated by a 32-year-old man from Brooksville, struck the motorcyclist moments later. Despite emergency efforts, the rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Hyundai, along with his two passengers, a 24-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl, were not physically injured in the crash.
Authorities remained at the scene for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation, and the intersection was closed to traffic during that time.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist during this time of loss.
Motorcycle Fatalities and Roadway Risks in Florida
The fatal collision at Bellamy Brothers Blvd and Bayhead Rd once again highlights the increased risks motorcyclists face on Florida’s rural and semi-rural roadways. Unlike urban traffic patterns, these long stretches of road can give the impression of safety while still presenting sharp turns, inconsistent surfaces, and minimal shoulder space—all of which can contribute to control loss during a maneuver like a left turn.
In this incident, the motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle while turning, leaving him vulnerable in the oncoming traffic lane. Such situations are tragically common in single-rider crashes where speed, road conditions, or sudden handling shifts disrupt the rider’s balance.
Pasco County has seen a troubling number of fatal motorcycle accidents in recent years, and today’s crash serves as another reminder of how quickly tragedy can unfold—even in daylight, even with minimal traffic. Riders are urged to take extra caution when executing turns, especially when road conditions or curves complicate visibility and control.
For families impacted by motorcycle fatalities, the aftermath is not only emotional but often financially overwhelming. Legal avenues, including wrongful death claims and insurance settlements, can provide critical support during the difficult transition ahead.
