Pemiscot Co, MO – Two Injured in Accident on I-155 at 0.8 Mile Marker

August 31, 2025

Pemiscot Co, MO (August 31, 2025) – Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after a two-vehicle collision occurred on Friday afternoon on I-155 in Pemiscot County. The crash was reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. near the 0.8-mile marker.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision involved a 2007 Saturn Vue and a 2018 RAM 2500, both traveling northbound. Investigators reported that the Saturn, driven by a 19-year-old woman from Hayti, pulled off the shoulder and into the path of the RAM, causing a significant impact.

Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Ace Wrecker. The driver of the Saturn and a 15-year-old female passenger, also from Hayti, suffered injuries. The juvenile was transported from the scene by Medic One to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital, while the driver was taken by private vehicle to the same facility. Authorities confirmed that neither of the injured individuals had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the RAM, a 31-year-old man from Mason, TN, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by state authorities.

Our thoughts are with those recovering from this incident.

Shoulder Merge Collisions on Missouri Interstates

Crashes involving vehicles re-entering traffic from the shoulder, such as this one on I-155, are especially dangerous due to speed differences and limited reaction time for other drivers. These incidents often result in high-impact collisions and serious injuries, particularly when seatbelt use is lacking.

On high-speed routes like I-155, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) advises drivers to only stop on the shoulder in emergencies and to exercise extreme caution when merging back into traffic. Proper signaling, checking blind spots, and yielding to oncoming vehicles are critical to preventing tragedies.

Failure to yield while merging from the shoulder can carry significant legal and financial consequences. Victims may face long-term recovery, unexpected medical bills, and challenges dealing with insurance companies. In such cases, legal support may help clarify rights and responsibilities.
