Pensacola, FL (May 19, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Pensacola on Sunday morning resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to two passengers, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of North T Street and West Hayes Street.
Officials reported that a Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on W Hayes St, while a Ford F-150 pickup truck was heading north on N T St. The driver of the Dodge failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the Ford. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and triggered an immediate emergency response.
The 47-year-old Pensacola man driving the Dodge Charger was transported to Baptist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Ford F-150 was driven by a 74-year-old Pensacola man, who sustained minor injuries in the crash. However, two passengers in the truck—a 65-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man, both from Pensacola—were seriously injured. They were transported to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.
The intersection was temporarily closed while investigators examined the scene and emergency crews cleared the area. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash, including evaluating whether additional factors such as speed or visibility played a role.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased driver and wish the injured passengers a full and swift recovery.
Intersection Crashes and Community Safety in Pensacola
Crashes at intersections like N T St and W Hayes St are all too common in urban areas, particularly when drivers fail to obey stop signs or signals. In this case, the Dodge Charger’s failure to stop at the intersection led to a high-impact collision that affected not only the driver but also multiple occupants of the other vehicle.
According to Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles data, intersection-related crashes account for a substantial portion of injury and fatal incidents across the state. Pensacola’s aging infrastructure, along with increased vehicle traffic, can further contribute to risk in high-traffic areas like the one where this collision occurred.
This tragedy also underscores the vulnerability of vehicle occupants—especially older adults—in multi-passenger vehicles. Serious injuries can have long-term implications for recovery, mobility, and overall quality of life, making access to immediate and ongoing medical care critical.
In the aftermath of a crash, accident victims and their families face not only physical and emotional hardships, but also the challenge of managing insurance claims, legal processes, and long-term care needs. That’s why timely access to medical records and official crash documentation is essential.
