Peterborough, NH (August 25, 2025) – A two-vehicle head-on collision occurred Saturday morning at the intersection of Concord St and Hancock Rd (Routes 136/202) in Peterborough, resulting in multiple injuries and one person being transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
The crash was reported around 10:25 a.m., prompting a joint emergency response from Peterborough Fire & Rescue and Peterborough Police. Four individuals were evaluated at the scene by EMS personnel, with one requiring additional care and transport to a nearby medical facility.
The collision led to significant vehicle damage, and the impacted section of roadway was reduced to one lane for an extended period. Moto Maguire and Steven’s Towing & Recovery were called in to remove the disabled vehicles and clear the roadway.

We extend our best wishes to all those involved and hope for a full recovery for the individual transported for further care.
Head-On Collisions on NH Rural Routes
Saturday’s head-on crash at Concord St and Hancock Rd reflects a recurring risk on New Hampshire’s rural and connector routes. Intersections like the one at Routes 136 and 202, which serve as commuter links between towns, are especially prone to high-impact crashes due to vehicle speeds, narrow lanes, and limited shoulder space.
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of roadway incidents, often resulting in severe injuries even at moderate speeds. In many cases, these crashes occur when one driver crosses the centerline, misjudges a turn, or attempts to pass another vehicle without sufficient visibility.
Injured parties in these types of crashes often face a long recovery process—both physically and financially. Immediate medical care, vehicle loss, time off work, and insurance complexities can leave victims overwhelmed. That’s why it’s essential to obtain proper documentation and connect with support services following the crash.
New Hampshire’s Department of Transportation continues to assess high-risk corridors for potential safety upgrades, but ultimately, driver awareness remains the strongest defense against head-on collisions. Staying alert, avoiding distractions, and obeying speed limits are critical—especially on roads with oncoming traffic and few physical dividers.
