Phelan, CA (September 23, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision involving a semi-truck and a sedan claimed one life Monday afternoon on State Route 18, just east of Blanco Rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 4:46 p.m. when a gray sedan reportedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Freightliner semi-truck. A passenger inside the big rig contacted authorities immediately after the crash, reporting that the sedan had entered their lane prior to the impact.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at 5:01 p.m. A representative from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation.
Following the incident, authorities closed SR‑18 at Sheep Creek Rd and Oasis Rd for several hours as crews worked to investigate the collision and clear the wreckage from the roadway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
