Phoenix, AZ – Fatal Crash Involving Semi at 43rd Ave & Roosevelt St

April 6, 2025

Phoenix, AZ (April 6, 2025) – An accident occurred early Saturday morning in west Phoenix, resulting in the death of one man following a crash involving a semi-truck at the intersection of 43rd Ave and Roosevelt St. First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in the crash.

The collision took place at approximately 3:10 a.m., just south of Interstate 10. Authorities reported that a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck were involved in a head-on collision. The driver of the passenger vehicle, later identified as 24-year-old Aaron Jaycob Williams, was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Williams succumbed to his injuries.

The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Preliminary findings from the Phoenix Police Department indicate that Williams had been traveling westbound on Roosevelt St when he attempted to pass another vehicle by entering the eastbound lanes. It was at that moment that the fatal crash with the oncoming semi-truck occurred.

Police closed the intersection temporarily for cleanup and investigation. Detectives continue to review evidence and statements related to the incident. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Aaron Jaycob Williams.

Car Accidents in Arizona

Head-on collisions are among the most deadly types of traffic accidents, particularly when high speeds or large vehicles like semi-trucks are involved. The incident at 43rd Ave and Roosevelt St highlights the critical dangers of improper passing, especially in low-light or early-morning conditions when visibility may be reduced.

Arizona roads, especially near major corridors like I-10, often see a mix of commercial and commuter traffic. Passing maneuvers on undivided roads can quickly turn dangerous if opposing traffic is underestimated or if road conditions do not allow for safe visibility.

Accidents involving semis typically result in serious consequences for passenger vehicle occupants due to the size and weight of the trucks. Even when drivers are attempting to make quick decisions, a misjudged lane change or passing attempt can have tragic outcomes.

Public safety campaigns continue to emphasize the importance of patient, defensive driving—especially during early morning hours. Drivers are urged to avoid aggressive maneuvers and instead wait for clear, legal opportunities to pass, if necessary.

If your family has been affected by a tragic crash like this, seeking professional guidance can help you understand your rights and take steps toward closure.
