Highway Accidents in North Phoenix
W Carefree Hwy serves as a major east-west route through the northern stretches of Phoenix, connecting residential areas with business parks, regional parks, and I-17 access. While the road is built for speed and volume, increased evening traffic and mixed-use access points create accident risks.
In 2024, Phoenix reported a rise in injury collisions on major arterial roads like Carefree Hwy. Contributing factors included speed, limited visibility after dark, and high-speed merging from adjacent roads or private drives.
Drivers using highways and arterial roads are urged to maintain safe speeds, keep headlights on in low-light conditions, and allow for extra stopping distance. Even small misjudgments at high speeds can result in serious crashes.
