Head-On Collisions and Road Safety in South Carolina
Head-on collisions, like the tragic crash on Old Seneca Rd, are often among the most severe roadway incidents due to the force of impact. In many cases, these crashes occur when a vehicle drifts over the center line, whether from distraction, impairment, or other contributing factors.
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, head-on collisions accounted for a significant number of fatal crashes in 2024. Rural roads such as Old Seneca Rd are particularly prone to these incidents, as they may lack median barriers and often have limited visibility.
For survivors of these collisions, recovery can be long and difficult, involving medical treatment, rehabilitation, and financial strain. Families of victims also face overwhelming emotional and financial challenges after such losses.
