Pittsburgh, PA (August 21, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday morning on Forbes Avenue near Trinity Hall at Duquesne University, leaving at least one person with a reported neck injury. The incident was first reported around 7:58 a.m., prompting a response from Pittsburgh Police and EMS units.
According to dispatch audio, the crash took place directly across from Duquesne’s Trinity Hall, in the area of Ninety Sipple Street and near Cross Town Boulevard. Emergency personnel were quickly directed to the scene to evaluate those involved and provide medical attention. One individual was noted to have sustained a neck injury, a condition which often requires cautious handling and immediate transport for further examination.
Traffic in the area was likely delayed during the response as crews worked to assess all vehicles involved and begin a preliminary investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals involved, and additional injury details have not yet been confirmed.
We extend our wishes for a full recovery to the person injured in this morning’s crash.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Pittsburgh
Crashes involving three or more vehicles, such as the one on Forbes Avenue, are often the result of chain-reaction impacts during congested traffic periods. In this case, the collision near a busy university campus adds another layer of risk, as students, faculty, and pedestrians frequently navigate the same roadway during early morning hours.
Neck injuries are common in multi-vehicle crashes due to rapid deceleration and forceful movement at impact. Even when the vehicles themselves sustain moderate damage, the human body can be significantly affected—particularly in the cervical spine and surrounding muscles. These types of injuries must be treated with care to avoid long-term complications.
Forbes Avenue is a critical corridor through Pittsburgh’s downtown academic and business districts, and its intersections require extra caution due to frequent merging traffic, pedestrian crossings, and high foot traffic. Motorists are urged to slow down near campuses and remain alert to changing traffic conditions.
