Overnight Highway Crashes in Pennsylvania
Late-night and early-morning collisions on highways like I-376 can present heightened risks due to reduced visibility, fatigue, and limited traffic volume leading to higher travel speeds. In Pennsylvania, data from the Department of Transportation shows that interstate crashes during overnight hours are more likely to result in severe injuries compared to daytime incidents. Sections like mile marker 73 can be particularly hazardous due to merging traffic, road curves, or construction zones.
Drivers traveling at night are encouraged to use high beams when appropriate, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and remain alert to changes in traffic flow. Ongoing state safety initiatives focus on improving lighting, signage, and roadside assistance availability to help prevent and respond to overnight crashes more effectively.
