Platte Co, MO (September 10, 2025) – First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in the crash following a two-vehicle collision late Tuesday morning on the westbound MO-92 ramp leading to I-29 northbound in Platte County. The crash took place at approximately 11:54 a.m.
According to Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred when an 18-year-old male driver of a 2009 Toyota Camry lost control of his vehicle. The Camry veered off the left side of the ramp, struck the ground, and then reentered the roadway. At that point, a 2017 Ford Edge, driven by a 34-year-old woman from Kansas City, MO, was unable to avoid the Camry and struck it before continuing into a concrete barrier.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Express Tow. The female driver of the Ford Edge suffered injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. The Camry’s driver was uninjured and also declined medical attention, leaving the scene following the crash.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine all contributing factors in the incident. Our thoughts are with those involved and we wish the injured driver a smooth and swift recovery.
Ramp Safety and Collision Risks on Missouri Highways
Ramps that connect state highways and interstates, such as the MO-92 ramp to I-29 northbound, can present unique dangers due to merging traffic, tight curves, and sudden changes in speed. This recent crash in Platte County underscores the importance of exercising caution during ramp navigation, particularly when road conditions or driver actions become unpredictable.
According to the Federal Highway Administration, ramps are frequent locations for loss-of-control crashes, especially when drivers overcorrect or reenter traffic without yielding to oncoming vehicles. In this case, the initial loss of control by the Toyota Camry set off a chain reaction that left both vehicles severely damaged.
Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed when approaching ramps, stay within designated lanes, and remain alert to the movements of other vehicles. Defensive driving becomes especially important in transition areas where space is limited and visibility may be reduced.
Fortunately, both drivers in this incident were wearing safety restraints, which likely helped reduce the severity of injuries. Continued use of seat belts remains one of the most effective measures for injury prevention in highway crashes.
