Lane-Change Collisions on Missouri Interstates
Interstate 29 in Platte County is a major freight and commuter route, where large commercial vehicles frequently share lanes with passenger cars. Lane-change collisions, especially involving large trucks, often occur when blind spots, traffic flow, or driver misjudgments come into play.
Missouri highway data from 2024 highlights that improper lane changes are a leading cause of multi-vehicle crashes on high-speed routes like I-29. Even low-impact collisions can result in significant injuries, especially when there is a speed differential or limited maneuvering space.
Motorists are advised to always check mirrors and blind spots thoroughly before merging or changing lanes and to leave adequate space when driving near commercial trucks.
