Prince George’s County, MD (August 25, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old man Saturday evening in Prince George’s County after his bike collided with a commercial vehicle near the southbound exit ramp of Interstate 495 at Saint Barnabas Road.
According to Maryland State Police, troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:32 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim, identified as Camron Amirion Stroud of Upper Marlboro, had been involved in a high-impact collision while riding his Suzuki motorcycle southbound on the Beltway.
Preliminary findings indicate that Stroud struck a commercial vehicle under circumstances that are still under investigation. Despite efforts by emergency responders, he was transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities closed off sections of the roadway for more than three hours as the Maryland State Police Crash Team conducted an extensive on-site investigation. No additional details about the commercial vehicle or its operator have been released at this time.

Motorcycle Fatalities and Commercial Vehicle Collisions in Maryland
This fatal crash on I-495 underscores the severe risks motorcyclists face when navigating high-speed highways—especially when commercial vehicles are involved. Unlike passenger cars, motorcycles offer little physical protection, making any collision, particularly at highway speeds, more likely to result in catastrophic injuries or fatalities.
According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, motorcyclists represent a disproportionate share of traffic fatalities, even though they account for a smaller percentage of total vehicles on the road. Interactions between motorcycles and large commercial vehicles are especially dangerous due to visibility limitations, lane changes, and braking differences.
In this case, the fact that the crash occurred near an exit ramp could indicate a scenario where merging, sudden speed changes, or misjudged spacing played a role. The area near Saint Barnabas Road is known for heavy traffic and complex traffic patterns, which may have contributed to the incident.
The ongoing investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team will be critical in determining how the collision occurred and whether any legal actions or safety measures may follow. In the meantime, this tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerability that riders face and the importance of increased awareness and caution from all roadway users.
