Red Wing, MN (September 24, 2025) – A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 61 and Spring Creek Rd in Red Wing left several people injured Wednesday morning. The crash occurred just after 8:00 a.m. and involved a Dodge Durango and a Dodge Grand Caravan. Emergency responders from the Red Wing Police Department, Red Wing Fire, and Red Wing Ambulance arrived on the scene to assist those involved.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Dodge Durango was traveling northbound on Hwy 61 and was attempting to make a left turn onto Spring Creek Rd. At the same time, a Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling southbound on Hwy 61. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in damage to both and the deployment of airbags.
Three individuals were transported to Red Wing Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gregory Anthony Roberson, age 36, was a passenger in the Durango and suffered injuries in the crash. Maria Pelehos, age 79, was driving the Grand Caravan and also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A 15-year-old male passenger in the Grand Caravan was injured as well and taken for medical care. All individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. The driver of the Durango, 34-year-old Natasha Marie Taylor-Brock of Red Wing, was not injured. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that road conditions were dry.
The incident remains under investigation, with officials working to determine whether right-of-way or misjudged timing during the left turn contributed to the crash. Intersections like Hwy 61 and Spring Creek Rd are known for consistent traffic flow and can pose challenges for turning vehicles, particularly during morning hours.
We extend our best wishes to those recovering from this accident and hope each individual makes a full and swift recovery.
Intersection Accidents in Minnesota
Crashes at intersections—especially those involving left turns—are among the most common and dangerous types of collisions in Minnesota. The crash on Hwy 61 and Spring Creek Rd illustrates how quickly a routine drive can result in injury when vehicles cross paths at signalized junctions. In many cases, left-turning drivers underestimate the speed or distance of oncoming traffic, leading to serious crashes even at moderate speeds.
Red Wing’s location along Highway 61 means local drivers regularly navigate both residential and highway traffic, making intersections like this one especially high-risk. Morning traffic increases the likelihood of such incidents, as drivers face pressure to complete turns amid a steady flow of vehicles. Even when safety measures like seat belts and airbags function as intended, the physical and emotional toll of these crashes can be significant.
Injury victims may deal with more than immediate pain—they often face follow-up care, physical therapy, time off work or school, and the added stress of navigating insurance claims. Prompt medical evaluations and legal support are essential after a crash, even when injuries are not immediately life-threatening.
If you were involved in this crash or a similar one, you do not have to navigate the aftermath alone.
