Redwood City, CA (February 9, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred Saturday evening on northbound US-101 just south of the Woodside Rd off-ramp, causing significant traffic delays and prompting emergency response from California Highway Patrol (CHP) and local emergency services.
The crash was reported at approximately 5:37 PM and involved five vehicles, according to CHP reports. Initial details indicated that lanes 1 and 2 were blocked due to the collision, resulting in a SigAlert and heavy traffic congestion in the area. While all lanes were eventually reopened around 6:59 PM, delays persisted for some time as the scene was cleared.
At least one of the vehicles involved, a gray Honda sedan, experienced engine failure following the crash and required towing services. The extent of injuries remains unclear, but CHP confirmed that emergency medical services were en route to the scene. It is not yet known how many individuals were injured.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by CHP. Additional information will be provided as more details emerge.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident, and we wish a full recovery to anyone injured.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in California
Multi-vehicle accidents are common on California’s major highways, particularly on heavily trafficked routes like US-101 in the Bay Area. The combination of high-speed travel, dense traffic, and frequent lane changes increases the risk of such collisions. In areas like Redwood City, where commuter traffic is heavy, even a minor incident can quickly escalate into a multi-vehicle pile-up.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), over 250,000 injury crashes were reported across the state last year, many of which involved multiple vehicles. These accidents often lead to complicated insurance claims and legal disputes due to the number of parties involved.
Victims of multi-vehicle accidents have the right to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. It is crucial to seek immediate medical attention, report the incident to law enforcement, and consult with a legal professional to ensure your rights are protected and fair compensation is pursued.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a multi-vehicle accident in California, understanding your legal options is a critical step toward recovery.
