Riverside, CA (November 14, 2025) – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) bus in the area of Chicago Avenue and 12th Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck near a bus stop. Upon arrival, they found the man critically injured and called for emergency medical services. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate that the man had stepped off the sidewalk and positioned himself in front of the bus as it began pulling away from the stop. The driver was unable to avoid the collision, and the bus came to a halt in the southbound lanes of Chicago Avenue.
Authorities confirmed that the RTA bus driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
