Robertson County, TX (January 10, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision claimed the life of an elderly man on Thursday morning on Highway 79 between Franklin and Marquez. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the crash involved a 2022 Ford F-150 and a 2010 Freightliner semi-truck.
According to DPS, 82-year-old Hugh Hall was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 79 for an unknown reason when he collided head-on with the semi-truck. The driver of the Freightliner attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital in Bryan for treatment. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
