Rowland Heights, CA (June 23, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision involving a red Tesla and two pickup trucks occurred Monday morning on westbound SR-60 at the Nogales St off-ramp, leading to significant traffic disruption and reported injuries. The crash was first reported at approximately 9:00 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision involved a red Tesla Model Y and two light-colored pickup trucks. The vehicles came to rest blocking the HOV lane and the #1 and #2 lanes, significantly affecting morning traffic. Emergency responders with Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived quickly at the scene and confirmed airbag deployment in at least one vehicle.
One of the involved drivers reportedly remained in the vehicle following the crash, possibly requiring medical attention. Fire personnel evaluated those involved, and although the CHP later reclassified the incident as non-life-threatening (1182), at least one person was treated for injury-related concerns on scene.
Tow services were called for all three damaged vehicles, including Pepe’s Tow and Golden Bear Tow, due to significant front-end damage to the Tesla and visible damage to the pickup trucks. The roadway was cleared after tow crews removed the vehicles and debris.
The incident remains under investigation. CHP is reviewing evidence to determine whether unsafe lane changes or following too closely contributed to the crash.
We extend our best wishes for a quick recovery to the individuals involved.
Freeway Crashes and Peak-Hour Dangers on SR-60
This crash on SR-60 West near Nogales St reflects the increased risks posed by multi-vehicle collisions during high-traffic periods. The SR-60 corridor through Rowland Heights is one of the most heavily traveled routes in eastern Los Angeles County, connecting major commuter and logistics traffic between the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire.
Crashes that block the HOV and multiple left lanes, like Monday’s, create immediate hazards—not only to those involved but to approaching vehicles caught off-guard by stopped traffic. Rear-end and sideswipe collisions are common on this stretch of freeway, often exacerbated by aggressive lane changes and reduced spacing between vehicles.
For those injured in freeway collisions, even minor crashes can lead to lingering back, neck, or head injuries—especially when airbag deployment occurs. Quick medical assessment, clear crash documentation, and legal support can make a meaningful difference in the recovery process.
Ongoing efforts from regional planners aim to address congestion and crash frequency on SR-60 through interchange redesigns, improved signage, and better enforcement. Still, driver caution remains the most immediate tool for reducing serious incidents.
