Sacramento, CA (January 30, 2026) – A bicyclist sustained moderate injuries in a hit-and-run accident Friday morning at the intersection of Howe Ave and Hallmark Dr in Sacramento. The crash, which involved a silver SUV, occurred just south of Highway 144 and prompted an emergency response from fire crews and medical personnel.
The incident was reported at approximately 10:45 a.m. when initial callers advised dispatchers that a vehicle had struck a person riding a bicycle. According to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic logs, the suspect vehicle fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, leaving the injured bicyclist in the roadway.
Fire crews were already on site when CHP officers arrived, and paramedics assessed the victim, who was reportedly suffering from moderate injuries. An ambulance was requested to transport the injured individual to UC Davis Medical Center for further treatment. No other vehicles remained at the scene, though at least two were initially seen stopped in the roadway following the incident.
Traffic in the area was impacted as lanes #1 and #2 were blocked during the investigation and emergency response. The identity of the fleeing driver remains unknown, and investigators are actively working to locate the suspect vehicle.
Law enforcement urges any witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward to assist with the investigation.
