Sacramento, CA (September 25, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a big rig and a sports car occurred Wednesday morning on Highway 50, resulting in the death of one individual. The California Highway Patrol confirmed the collision happened around 9:43 a.m. near the 65th Street exit in Sacramento.
Emergency responders from Sacramento Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene after reports of a major collision involving a semi-truck and a Chevrolet Corvette. Upon arrival, crews found the Corvette lodged partially underneath the rear of the big rig—a sign of the severity of the impact.
The driver of the Corvette, who has not yet been identified, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. Tragically, the individual later succumbed to their injuries. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities have not released information regarding the cause of the crash or whether any charges are being considered. Investigators remained on the scene for several hours, reconstructing the collision and collecting evidence to determine what led to the fatal impact.
Traffic in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 was heavily affected as cleanup and investigation continued. All lanes were eventually reopened after the scene was cleared and deemed safe for travel.
