Sacramento, CA (September 10, 2025) – A tragic workplace incident is under investigation after a worker died Monday morning while performing duties at a Costco gas station construction site in Sacramento.
The Sacramento Fire Department confirmed the incident took place just before 11:00 a.m. on September 8 at the job site located along Expo Parkway. According to officials, the worker was cleaning an underground tank when he reportedly suffered a medical emergency and collapsed inside the confined space.
Firefighters arrived quickly and initiated a rescue operation to remove the man from the tank. He was transported by emergency medical personnel to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the worker pending family notification.
Investigators are working to determine whether environmental conditions, safety procedures, or pre-existing health issues may have contributed to the incident. It remains unclear whether hazardous materials were present at the time.
