Saint George Twp, MN (August 9, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a detached trailer resulted in injuries Friday afternoon on MN Highway 95 near mile marker 5 in Saint George Township, Benton County. The incident occurred at approximately 3:54 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities report that a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer traveling eastbound on MN Hwy 95 was towing a flatbed trailer when the trailer became detached. The detached trailer collided with a westbound 2024 Ford F150 pickup. A 2024 Ford Mustang, also traveling eastbound, subsequently struck the same trailer. Emergency responders, including Mayo Ambulance, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and Foley Fire Department, arrived at the scene to provide care.

The driver of the Ford F150, identified as 47-year-old Timothy Richard Dohmeyer of Princeton, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Fairview Northland in Princeton for treatment. Other vehicle occupants were reported to have no injuries.

Trailer-Related Accidents in Minnesota

Incidents involving detached trailers can be especially dangerous, as they create unpredictable hazards for other motorists. On rural highways like MN Hwy 95, where speeds are higher and reaction time may be limited, a sudden obstacle in the roadway can quickly lead to multi-vehicle collisions.

Drivers towing trailers should ensure that all hitch connections, safety chains, and braking systems are secure and in good working condition before travel. Routine inspections can help prevent equipment failures that lead to dangerous situations. Victims of such accidents should seek prompt medical attention and maintain detailed records of their injuries, expenses, and the events leading to the crash.

Minnesota law allows those injured due to another party’s negligence to seek compensation for damages. Taking swift action after an accident is critical, as filing deadlines can limit recovery options.
