Salisbury, MD (May 12, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 48-year-old man Saturday evening following a collision at a busy intersection in Wicomico County.
At approximately 4:55 p.m., Salisbury Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of E Salisbury Parkway (US Route 50) and Tilghman Road. Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 4 was also requested due to the critical nature of the incident.
Upon arrival, first responders found the operator of a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle—identified as 48-year-old Lorenzo Taylor of Princess Anne—in trauma arrest. Medics from Trooper 4 and EMS provided life-saving interventions before transporting him to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to a police investigation, Taylor had been traveling eastbound on E Salisbury Parkway when he collided with a 2014 Nissan Murano while attempting to cross Tilghman Road. The driver and a passenger in the Nissan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by EMS at the scene.
Police remained at the intersection for an extended period to document the scene and begin a thorough investigation. It is not yet known whether speed, visibility, or right-of-way issues played a role in the crash. No charges have been announced.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lorenzo Taylor during this difficult time.
Fatal Motorcycle Crashes in Maryland: Risks at Busy Intersections
Motorcycle fatalities continue to be a major concern across Maryland, particularly at high-speed intersections like E Salisbury Parkway and Tilghman Road. This busy area sees a constant mix of commercial, commuter, and through traffic, creating a high-risk environment for motorcyclists who are more vulnerable to the actions of larger vehicles.
In Saturday’s crash, the rider’s attempt to cross an active intersection highlights a common challenge faced by motorcyclists: limited visibility and misjudged timing by either the rider or other drivers. With less physical protection than car occupants, even moderate-speed collisions often result in severe or fatal trauma for motorcycle operators.
Emergency responders, including Salisbury Fire and Maryland State Police Aviation, played a critical role in providing rapid medical care. Unfortunately, in cases of trauma arrest, where the victim has lost vital signs due to crash injuries, survival rates are extremely low, even with swift intervention.
Crashes involving motorcycles require detailed reconstruction to determine liability and contributing factors such as signal timing, speed, and right-of-way adherence. For grieving families, understanding these details is an important step in seeking closure, pursuing justice, or filing claims to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
