San Antonio, TX (January 17, 2026) – A woman sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Friday night on San Antonio’s northwest side, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The incident occurred around 9:19 p.m. in the 11800 block of Bandera Rd, just outside Loop 1604.
Authorities say the woman had exited a vehicle in a nearby parking lot and was attempting to cross Bandera Rd when she was hit by a white sedan. Investigators believe the woman may have been involved in an argument prior to the collision and was running across the roadway at the time she was struck.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided critical care before transporting the victim to a local hospital. As of Friday night, she remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the white sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with police. At this time, it is unclear whether any charges will be filed. Officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Traffic in the area was heavily impacted. Vehicles heading toward Helotes were diverted through the Bandera Trails shopping center, and no traffic was allowed to pass under Loop 1604 in the direction of Helotes. Authorities advised that Bandera Rd in that area would remain closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman and her loved ones during this difficult time, and we hope for her full recovery.
