San Diego, CA (September 22, 2025) – A Caltrans worker was injured late Friday night in a hit-and-run collision along the southbound side of State Route 125 near Jamacha Road. The crash occurred around 11:19 p.m. on September 19, in a designated construction zone just south of Troy Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol traffic incident log, a silver Toyota 4Runner struck a Caltrans construction truck stationed on the right shoulder. The suspect vehicle rear-ended the truck and then fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the injured worker.
The Caltrans employee, identified as Ellias P., reported back pain following the collision. He later drove himself to an emergency room for treatment. No other Caltrans staff were reported injured in the crash.
CHP classified the incident as a felony hit-and-run with injuries under California Vehicle Code § 20001. A tow truck was dispatched to recover the damaged Caltrans vehicle, and authorities have confirmed that the suspect remained outstanding as of the latest report.
