San Diego, CA (September 20, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision between two bicyclists claimed one life and left another injured Thursday morning on a bike path near Lake Murray Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department. The crash occurred around 7:25 a.m. and remains under active investigation.
Authorities reported that both cyclists were traveling at “a pretty good speed” when they collided directly with one another on the narrow recreational path. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but one of the cyclists was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of injuries sustained in the impact.
The second rider was transported to a nearby hospital. Officials stated that the injured bicyclist’s current condition remains unknown.
The bike path was temporarily closed as police initiated their investigation. No other individuals were involved in the crash, and additional details regarding the cause have not yet been released.
