San Diego, CA (January 17, 2026) – Emergency crews responded to a serious motorcycle accident on the southbound I-5 transition to I-805 in San Diego. The crash occurred around 10:05 a.m. and involved a 31-year-old male motorcyclist who was reportedly thrown from his bike after being cut off by another vehicle.
Medics and fire crews worked to assist the rider, who suffered a clear fracture to his left hip and was experiencing significant pain. The man reported landing hard on his left leg and sustained multiple additional injuries, including road rash to the right forearm and superficial abrasions to both hands. Despite the severity of the fall, his head, neck, and back were reported to be free of injury.
First responders noted that the patient remained conscious with full recall of the incident and showed stable vital signs. He was backboarded and loaded into an ambulance for immediate transport to a nearby trauma facility. EMS personnel began administering pain medication and working on IV access en route to the hospital.
Traffic in the area was briefly impacted while responders managed the scene and ensured the safety of the injured rider.
