San Jose, CA (May 17, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on northbound US-101 just south of Trimble Rd resulted in minor injuries late Friday night. The incident occurred around 11:38 p.m. and involved at least three vehicles, one of which reportedly overturned and came to rest off the roadway near an embankment.
First responders, including paramedics and fire crews, worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. Several occupants were evaluated at the scene, and at least one person sustained minor injuries. All lanes in the northbound direction were temporarily impacted, with traffic halted and emergency crews on-site for over two hours.
Reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated that two vehicles sustained major front-end damage while blocking multiple lanes. A third vehicle was located approximately 20 feet off the road, with one car possibly landing on its roof. Multiple tow trucks were required to clear the scene due to the severity of the vehicle damage.
Tow requests and response coordination lasted into the early morning hours, and delays were reported through the San Jose corridor. Authorities eventually downgraded the severity of the crash to a “Traffic Collision – Minor Injuries” after initial uncertainty regarding potential serious injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials are reviewing whether speeding, distracted driving, or other roadway factors contributed to the crash.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this crash, and we hope for a smooth recovery for those injured.
High-Risk Collision Zones on US-101 Through San Jose
US-101 is one of Silicon Valley’s most traveled freeways, often congested and prone to late-night crashes due to reduced visibility, high speeds, and frequent lane changes. The section near Trimble Rd is a particularly busy interchange, merging traffic from San Jose’s tech districts and airport-bound routes.
Data from California’s Office of Traffic Safety reveals that freeway crashes involving multiple vehicles are common in the region, especially during nighttime hours. Even when injuries are minor, multi-vehicle accidents can lead to serious traffic delays and complications for those involved.
Drivers are urged to remain alert, maintain safe distances, and use caution when navigating high-traffic corridors—especially near major exits like Trimble Rd. For those injured, documenting the incident and seeking timely medical and legal assistance can help with insurance claims and recovery.
