The incident occurred around 11:38 p.m. and involved at least three vehicles, one of which reportedly overturned and came to rest off the roadway near an embankment.
First responders, including paramedics and fire crews, worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. Several occupants were evaluated at the scene, and at least one person sustained minor injuries. All lanes in the northbound direction were temporarily impacted, with traffic halted and emergency crews on-site for over two hours.
Reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated that two vehicles sustained major front-end damage while blocking multiple lanes. A third vehicle was located approximately 20 feet off the road, with one car possibly landing on its roof. Tow requests and response coordination lasted into the early morning hours, and delays were reported through the San Jose corridor. Authorities eventually downgraded the severity of the crash to a “Traffic Collision – Minor Injuries” after initial uncertainty regarding potential serious injuries.
