San Jose, CA (January 17, 2026) – A serious motorcycle crash left at least one person with major injuries Friday evening on State Route 87 in San Jose. The collision occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway, just north of the Curtner Avenue on-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews from San Jose Fire Department responded to the scene and located two vehicles involved—a gray sedan and a sports motorcycle. First responders provided aid to the injured parties, confirming that at least one individual sustained significant trauma in the crash. That person was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Due to the severity of the incident, CHP officials temporarily shut down the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes on northbound SR-87 while emergency personnel worked to secure the scene and conduct an initial investigation.
Authorities have not yet released further information on what led to the crash or whether any citations have been issued. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
