Santa Rosa, CA (January 5, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a pedestrian occurred on southbound US 101 near College Ave. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident at approximately 10:12 PM, confirming that the pedestrian was struck and killed on the roadway.
According to initial reports, the pedestrian was in the #1 lane when they were struck by a vehicle, believed to be a white pickup truck, which then exited the highway at College Ave. Emergency crews, including medical responders, were dispatched to the scene, but the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office was notified and is handling further procedures.
Traffic disruptions were significant, with lanes 1 and 2 of southbound US 101 blocked for several hours as investigators examined the scene. A SigAlert was issued, advising drivers of extended delays and lane closures in the area.
