Seattle, WA (January 17, 2026) – A 52-year-old man was injured after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Broadway East and East First Street on January 16. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. and drew a response from Seattle police, fire, and medical crews.
Emergency radio traffic confirmed the cyclist suffered injuries to the head and hands. Fire medics arrived shortly after to begin treatment, and SPD officers responded to secure the area. The vehicle involved remained at the scene initially, but further reports indicated a dark blue Honda seen driving erratically and swerving southbound on Delridge Way SW may have also been linked to the incident.
Police were informed that the driver was possibly impaired, with witnesses noting inconsistent speed and poor lane control. Authorities are working to determine whether the suspect vehicle fled the scene or remained part of the original collision.
An investigation remains underway. We extend our wishes for a full recovery to the injured cyclist and urge anyone with additional information to contact Seattle police.
