Seekonk, MA (August 5, 2025) – A devastating multi-vehicle crash on the westbound side of Interstate 195 in Seekonk claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman and left five others injured late Sunday night, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
The collision occurred around 11:00 p.m. and involved three vehicles: a 2012 black Mazda 3, a red 2003 Toyota Tacoma, and a blue 2007 Yamaha XVS motorcycle. Massachusetts State Police troopers arriving at the scene discovered the Mazda disabled in the right travel lane, the Tacoma overturned in the median, and the motorcycle destroyed in the breakdown lane.
Tragically, one of the Mazda’s passengers—identified as 18-year-old Abriana Herrera Perez of Providence, RI—was found in the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.
Five others sustained injuries in the crash. The motorcycle operator, a 33-year-old man, and a 69-year-old woman who had been inside the Tacoma were transported to a Rhode Island hospital. Three additional passengers from the Mazda—a 17-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, and an 18-year-old woman—were also hospitalized for their injuries.
Authorities have not released further details on the conditions of the injured parties. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by state troopers assigned to the DA’s office.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Abriana Herrera Perez, and we wish the injured individuals a full and swift recovery.
Deadly Highway Crashes in Massachusetts
The tragic crash on I-195 W in Seekonk underscores the catastrophic consequences that can result from multi-vehicle collisions on Massachusetts highways. When multiple vehicle types—including motorcycles and trucks—are involved, the risk of fatal injuries is significantly heightened.
High-speed corridors like I-195 pose serious challenges at night. Reduced visibility, high traffic volumes, and lane changes can quickly lead to chain-reaction crashes. The involvement of both a motorcycle and an overturned truck in Sunday’s wreck points to the violent nature of the impact and the difficulty emergency responders face in such chaotic scenes.
For families impacted by fatal highway crashes, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Beyond grieving, they are often faced with unanswered questions, financial burdens, and the need to navigate complex legal procedures. For survivors, the path to recovery may include long hospital stays, ongoing care, and emotional trauma.
Massachusetts law allows victims and families to pursue compensation if negligence or unsafe driving contributed to a fatal crash. Investigators will examine factors such as speed, vehicle condition, road design, and driver behavior to determine liability.
If you or a loved one has been impacted by a deadly highway crash, taking early steps to understand your rights can make all the difference.
