Seymour, CT (January 16, 2026) – A tragic head-on crash claimed the life of a 51-year-old Danbury man on January 15 in Seymour. The two-vehicle collision occurred around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 34 (Roosevelt Drive) and Maiden Lane and involved a 2010 Nissan Rogue and a 2015 Dodge Charger.
According to officials, the Monroe Police Department had received reports of a vehicle driving erratically along their portion of Route 34. Officers were already en route to locate the vehicle—identified as the Nissan Rogue—when the crash was reported.
When emergency crews arrived at the crash site, they found the Nissan’s driver, later identified as Wade Meeker, unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite paramedics’ attempts to resuscitate him at the scene, he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
The other driver, an 18-year-old woman in the Dodge Charger, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was conscious and alert when responders arrived and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Seymour Police Department, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS), is actively investigating the cause of the crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Wade Meeker, and we wish the injured driver a full and speedy recovery.
