Winning Trials since 1979

Shreveport, LA (August 7, 2025) – A tragic crash on the Jimmy Davis Bridge claimed the life of one driver Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025. The collision, which occurred just after 11:00 AM, involved a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2020 Kenworth semi-truck tanker. The incident has prompted a full investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.

According to Shreveport Police, patrol units were dispatched to the 3200 block of East 70th Street, where they found the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze unresponsive. Despite efforts by Shreveport and Bossier Fire Department crews to provide life-saving measures, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest that the Chevrolet Cruze was heading westbound on the bridge when it suddenly veered into the eastbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the semi-truck. A witness driving behind the Cruze reported that the vehicle was swerving erratically, possibly due to a medical emergency. This witness’s dashcam footage, which captured the fatal crash, has been provided to authorities for further investigation.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 2020 Kenworth tanker, was transported to Ochsner LSU Health and cooperated fully with investigators. He voluntarily submitted a blood sample, and no signs of impairment are currently suspected. Authorities also confirmed that the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.

Head-On Collisions and Safety Measures

Head-on collisions, particularly those involving large trucks, can have devastating consequences due to the size and weight differences between vehicles. It is critical for all drivers to stay alert, follow traffic signals, and avoid distractions, especially on bridges and high-traffic areas where visibility and road conditions may be challenging.

The tragic outcome of this crash highlights the importance of wearing seatbelts and ensuring that all passengers are properly secured while traveling. It’s also important for drivers to recognize the signs of potential medical emergencies and seek assistance if they feel unwell or unable to drive safely.

If you or someone you know has been affected by a similar crash, it’s important to consult legal and medical professionals to ensure proper support during the recovery process.
