Simpson County, MS (July 8, 2025) – A deadly collision on Sunday afternoon in Simpson County left one man dead and two others injured. The crash occurred around 12:21 p.m. on Highway 28 and involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), 22-year-old Jadarrian Burton of Prentiss was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound when it collided head-on with a 2020 Ford F-150 traveling west. The pickup truck was being driven by 77-year-old Judith Polk, who had a passenger, 48-year-old John Polk, also of Prentiss.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene and transported both occupants of the Ford F-150 to Magee General Hospital with injuries. The severity of those injuries has not yet been confirmed. Tragically, Burton sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol has launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
