Simsbury, CT (January 16, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash with injuries occurred around 12:30 p.m. on January 15 along Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) in Simsbury, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and a hazardous materials cleanup.
According to officials, Simsbury Police, Fire, and EMS arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported in the 20 block of the roadway. One injured individual was transported by Simsbury EMS, while Canton EMS provided mutual aid and transported a second patient for further evaluation.
In addition to the injuries, the crash caused significant fluid leakage from the involved vehicles, creating hazardous road conditions. Due to the extent of the spill and the need for additional absorbent material, Canton Fire Department was called in to assist with oil remediation efforts after Simsbury FD ran low on speedy-dry.
The scene remained active for an extended period while crews addressed both the medical and environmental concerns. The identities and conditions of the injured individuals have not yet been released.
We send our best wishes to those injured and hope for a smooth and full recovery.
