Southside Township, MN (January 16, 2026) – A deadly two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a semi-truck occurred on Minnesota Highway 55 at Reardon Ave NW in Southside Township, Wright County. The crash, which happened at approximately 5:26 p.m., resulted in at least one fatality and triggered a large-scale emergency response from multiple agencies.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2015 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on Hwy 55 while a 2023 Freightliner semi was headed westbound. The two vehicles collided near the intersection with Reardon Ave NW under dry road conditions.
First responders, including South Haven Fire and Allina Ambulance crews, arrived quickly and provided emergency care. Wright County Sheriff’s Office personnel also assisted at the scene. Officials confirmed that the airbags in the Ford Fusion were deployed, and the driver, a 63-year-old female from Annandale, was among those involved. A 57-year-old male from Hastings was driving the semi, and a 46-year-old male passenger from South Saint Paul was also in the truck.
Authorities have confirmed the incident resulted in at least one fatality, though specific identities of those involved are being withheld until 4:00 p.m. on January 16 to allow for family notifications.
The collision forced closures along a portion of Hwy 55 as investigators worked into the night to document the scene and gather evidence. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.
