Golf Cart Accidents in South Carolina
While golf carts are often associated with neighborhoods, recreational areas, and private communities, they are also increasingly used on public roads in South Carolina. Unfortunately, their smaller size, lower speed, and lack of protection for occupants make them particularly vulnerable in collisions with larger vehicles such as SUVs or trucks. This incident on East Main Street shows just how quickly an everyday trip can result in serious injury.
Spartanburg’s mix of commercial and residential traffic along busy stretches like East Main St creates challenges for drivers of all types of vehicles. Golf carts, lacking the safety features of traditional vehicles, are at a particular disadvantage during left-hand turns or when crossing multiple lanes of traffic. Even a low-speed crash can cause significant harm to cart operators and passengers.
For those injured in golf cart collisions, recovery often involves more than just immediate medical care. Victims may face rehabilitation, time away from work, and complications with insurance coverage, especially since golf carts are not always insured under standard auto policies. These realities make it essential for victims to understand their rights and options after such crashes.
